REDDGO LONG, SR.

Pastor & Visionary

Reddgo Bernard Long, Sr., was born on April 18, 1964, in Montgomery, Alabama to Frank and Lillie Long. At the age of  four, his mother passed away and he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to live with his grandmother; Mrs. Irene Isome. He was educated in the Cincinnati Public School System, and attended Cincinnati Technical College.  In 1988, his heart led him to Washington, DC, where he sought the company of Miss Clara Brazil. He found the city a very nice place to live and decided to stay. Two years later, on September 1, 1990, he married this young lady.

In February 1991 he gained employment with PACE (now Sam’s Club) in Landover, Maryland as a merchandiser. It was at this job that he was witnessed to by Brother Roscoe Haskins. In April 1991, he was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at Highway Holiness Church, Washington, DC. On May 5, 1991, he received the infilling of the Holy Ghost at the Greater Morning Star Pentecostal Church in Washington, DC, where the Pastor is Bishop Charles E. Johnson.  Immediately there began a love affair between God and this young man.  He was really glad to be saved. 

 

​Under the tutelage of Bishop Charles E. Johnson, he began working for God right away.  He served as vice president of the Greater Morning Star Brotherhood Auxiliary and as president of the Greater Morning Star Young People’s Auxiliary. He was a member of the Young Adult and Brotherhood choirs. He also worked with the Baptism Committee, Outreach and Prison Ministries.

 In 1993, he was commissioned to the preaching ministry and was elected as vice-president of the DC, Delaware, MD District Council Young People’s Auxiliary. In 1998 he was elected as the president of the same. In August 1998, God blessed him to become a licensed Elder by the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW). In July 1999, he was ordained by Bishop Thomas Wesley Weeks, Diocesan of the DC, Delaware, MD District Council. Not only has he been successful in wisdom for winning souls, but this wisdom has also helped him move through the ranks in spiritual accomplishments.  The world crowns success, but God crowns faithfulness.  Elder Long has proven to be faithful.

In February 1999, Elder Long began traveling to Evergreen, NC preaching every Sunday at Christ Temple Pentecostal Church. The Lord began to deal with. Elder Long about relocating to Evergreen, NC and accepting the responsibility of becoming a Pastor. Elder Long sat down with his wife Clara, informing her of what God wanted him to do.  Sis. Long’s response was “if this is the Lord’s will, I am beside you.” Elder & Sister Long moved to North Carolina in August 1999. By the grace of God they were able to transfer their jobs, which was a blessing.

In June of 2000, the Greater Morning Star Apostolic Church became a member of the Carolina State Council of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. On August 26, 2000, Bishop Richard E. Young, Diocesan Bishop of the 24th Episcopal District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. installed Elder Reddgo  Long as pastor of Greater Morning Star Apostolic. In July of 2006, Bishop Edward C. Roberts consecrated Elder Long into the office of District Elder. In October 2012, District Elder Long submitted his letter of resignation to the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World and in November 2013 he became apart of the newly formed Apostolic Faith Fellowship International (AFFI). On January 13, 2013 The Lord lead District Elder Long to start Greater Morning Star Apostolic of Wilmington North Carolina.In March 2013, District Elder Long was elevated to Bishop-Elect of the 3rd Episcopal District of the Apostolic Faith Fellowship International and he was consecrated as Bishop in August 2013 at the AFFI  National Convention held in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Bishop and First Lady Long have been married for almost thirty years. Together they have been through many trials and tribulations since accepting the call to pastor.  The Lord has blessed them with two sons; Reddgo Bernard, Jr. and Joshua Dwayne.

​

Bishop Long has worked tirelessly and diligently to win souls for the kingdom of God. Countless lives have been touched through his witnessing, radio broadcasts and outreach street services. Many have joyfully received the truth of God’s word; have been baptized in Jesus name, and have been filled with the Holy Ghost. Each Sunday, he continues to preach and teach the anointed word of God. A Father, A Pastor, and A Leader: Bishop Long is Truly A Man Called by God, who is “Apostolic to the Bone.”
